Aixam at the Mobility Roadshow, Stoneleigh Park, 12 – 14
June 2008
Disabled drivers looking for a compact and easy to drive alternative
to conventional cars will be welcomed at the Aixam stand at the
Mobility Roadshow, where UK importer Aixam Ltd will be showing
its A751 and Crossline models.
Aixam vehicles were the first quadricycles to be accepted onto
the Motability scheme back in 2000, and they are particularly
popular with drivers who have a motorcycle and B1 licence but
not a full car driving licence, and also with those who are looking
for a compact, manoeuvrable and easy-to-park option for urban
driving.
Just 3m in length but with four roomy seats, an Aixam offers
a number of important benefits. Its wide doors make getting in
and out easier for drivers with restricted mobility, and the low
lip of the hatchback makes it easy to move mobility aids, luggage
and shopping into, and out of, the rear.
Manufactured from ABS acrylic mounted onto a rigid aluminium
chassis and safety cage, the Aixam is dent-resistant and corrosion-free
and, because it weighs only 500 kg, it is frugal when it comes
to fuel consumption.
The vehicles have an in-line, two cylinder Kubota engine, and
an automatic gearbox.
